I believe that society is better when individuals’ political and personal freedoms are protected, and when society is more equal.
I strongly believe that education is a key driver in reducing inequality, creating a fairer landscape for all. And in the current age, a thoughtfully managed energy transition is essential to achieve sustainable and balanced economic growth, as well as environmental health.
To protect our political and personal freedoms, I advocate for a robust and well-resourced justice system. This, paired with a strong defence policy, is essential in maintaining our nation's security and upholding the values we cherish.
I believe the constituency of Tunbridge Wells is one of the best places to live in the country, but our town centre is not what it used to be.
After years of neglect, the centre of Tunbridge Wells is desperately in need of regeneration and improvement and is not fit for the 21st century.
I have been talking with constituents, business, and bodies like the Borough Council about the town centre, and I look forward to working together with them and others to develop a plan.
We all deserve a town centre that we can be proud of.
Many people across the constituency have shared their concerns with me about how we are building houses. People are particularly concerned about the lack of infrastructure, and the affordability of developments.
I believe that more houses need to be built, particularly social and affordable housIng. But these houses must be built with appropriate infrastructure, and enough of them must be affordable.
After years of the Conservatives being in charge, NHS services are struggling and in our area some services in particular – such as GPs, dentists and social care – are hugely overstretched, generating long waits.
There needs to be a greater focus on the basics in the NHS, so that people can see their GP, get a dental appointment, or receive appropriate social care.
This is a core part of the fair deal that I am fighting for.
The climate is already changing around us, and the energy transition is already happening. The UK should lean into this energy transition, drawing on its world-leading science and technology sector, to drive economic growth that is sustainable and fair.
